Bent Oaks Church of Christ
Rockport, Texas
Our members are very active and look forward to every opportunity to enjoy each other's company. The following are a few of the regular activities of the congregation.
First Sunday Eat & Meet
Game Night
Saturday Morning Pancake Breakfast
Birthday Celebrations
July 4th Fireworks and Barbecue
Men's Thursday Morning Bible Study Breakfast
Sisters of Service
The first Sunday of every month everyone brings too much good food and shares a meal after the morning worship service. There are always great new recipes and lots of opportunities to get to know everyone. Visitors are encouraged to stay and enjoy the good food and fellowship so that we don't have to take as many leftovers home. (Everyone shares their leftovers and seldom does anyone go home with the same food)
Once a month we enjoy time to try all of the latest games and a few old favorites. From 84 to 42 to Sequence to Sticks to Chickenfoot to Pegs and Jokers - Every new and hot game is brought to the table and everyone enjoys a snack and lots of fun playing and learning new games. The action is hot and heavy and there are lots of times when people talk TRASH (in a loving Christian manner).
Saturday Morning Pancake Breakfast
Once a month Daryl pulls on his chef's hat and cooks a mean batch of pancakes and sausage with others bring other "heart healthy" foods for a great start to a Saturday.
Birthday Celebrations
Everyone enjoys a birthday party and we are no exception. Especially when the big ones come around.
July 4th Fireworks and Barbecue
Every July 4th we get the opportunity to enjoy a front row seat for the Rockport firework display. After enjoying a short devotional and a great cookout, we pull up the lawn chairs in a member's yard to relax and watch the great Rockport firework display.
Men's Thursday Morning Bible Study Breakfast
The men meet each Thursday morning at 6:30 a.m. to start the day with a Bible study and a great breakfast. The restaurant of choice is the Taqueria Puerto Vallarta on Hwy 35 North near Tackletown - a frequent after breakfast stop.
Sisters of Service
One of our members graciously opens her house monthly during the school year for a Saturday meeting where women from local congregations gather for a devotional and to decide upon their service project for the next month. The current service beneficiary is the local Child Protection Services office. Project have included school supplies, diapers, baby formula, clothing, Christmas baskets, Easter baskets and other items to make sure that the children know they are treasures from God.
