Daryl and Ann Newton and their daughter Candis came to us as an answer to a prayer one Sunday shortly after our prior Minister had fallen ill with a serious heart condition and was bedridden.  As some would say the rest has been history or rather a new chapter in our history.

Daryl holds a PhD. in Clinical Christian Counseling from Carolina Christian University along with a Masters degree from Ball State University in Counseling.  For the 15 years prior to coming to Rockport he was engaged in a full time ministry as a Christian marriage and family counselor.  He is a current member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, The National Association of Christian Counselors, Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling, and the National Board of Clinical Christian Therapists. He is also a clinical supervisor for others who wish to pursue the field of Christian counseling.  Daryl also served as an elder for the Lakewood church of Christ in Baytown, Texas for 10 years. 

Daryl is a devoted husband and father.  His wife Ann, a recently semi-retired attorney, is a wonderful asset to the work being done here at the Church. Daryl wears many hats here at Bent Oaks Church of Christ with his ministering, counseling, and outreach to the community. He has also been blessed to travel to Romania on a missionary trip every year since 1995.  This year for the first time Ann will accompany him.
